Oceanside’s oldest standing structure is the Mission San Luis Rey de Francia founded in 1798 by the Franciscans. It is one of the early Spanish Missions built along El Camino Real (the Kings Highway).
It is the largest coastal community in North County, expanding to the east with newer Home Development and High Tech Industrial Parks.
Oceanside has undergone a fair amount of renewal with a newer City Hall downtown. Camp Pendleton, north of Oceanside is one of the Marine Corps Training Sites on the west coast. With a substantial amount of develop-able land still available, keep your eyes on Oceanside’s growth.
